A Year Looking Back: Passion

To celebrate the first anniversary of the Wild Rock ComPassion Project we are matching donations for up to $10,000!

Fall is the season to show your support for our community. By doubling your donation to the ComPassion Project we can work together to support the organizations that are doing vital work in our community.

Passion

Supporting organizations who are stewards of our wild places and/or developing opportunities for self-powered recreation within the County of Peterborough.

Focus on land preservation, trail building, access and alternative urban transportation.

Peterborough Bicycle Advisory Committee

One highlight of PBAC’s work this year was the Safe Streets Summit In April. With sold out audiences both days, the summit focussed on providing education and guidance about street design solutions that lower speeds, save lives and create prosperity in their communities.

Of course, PBAC has also continued its ongoing efforts to address the needs of all vulnerable road users in Peterborough with the goal of ensuring cycling is a meaningful part of our community's effort to reach its climate-action goals.

Kawartha Land Trust

Simply put, KLT has been on a tear this year, acquiring a number of important, sensitive lands. Leveraging provincial and national funding as well as local commitment, KLT recently announced the protection of three properties: Hammer Family Nature Preserve, Crescent Trust Property and Plant CEA. The protection of these properties brings KLT’s total number of protected lands to 41, comprising 7,350 acres!

Peterborough Trailbuilders Association

PTA work continues out at Harold Town Conservation Area!. This little troup of volunteers works tirelessly to ensure that the trail network keeps growing. Efforts this year have been focussed on some new trails that are approachable by intermediate riders. What most people don’t consider is just how much work and planning needs to go into building trails that are fun and safe while also being resistant to erosion and decay. And on that note, a rainy summer like this means more work keeping the grasses under control as well as constantly monitoring drainage.

Here at Wild Rock we feel so grateful for the work that PTA does for all of us!
