A Year Looking Back: Compassion

To celebrate the first anniversary of the Wild Rock ComPassion Project we are matching donations for up to $10,000!

Fall is the season to show your support for our community. By doubling your donation to the ComPassion Project we can work together to support the organizations that are doing vital work in our community.

Compassion

Supporting organizations who are fighting for social justice and equity within the City of Peterborough.

Focus on housing, addiction and food security.

One City Peterborough

The One City mission is to journey together as a community that promotes housing, community safety, and social inclusion in the City of Peterborough by responding to immediate needs, breaking down barriers among us, and advocating for systemic change.

The pinnacle of One City’s work this year has been the establishment of the Trinity Community Center, which is directly addressing Peterborough very challenging housing crisis. Although controversial at times, the Trinity Center is relieving pressure on those who are experiencing homelessness by providing shelter services and community for those who do not qualify for traditional shelters.

Fourcast Addiction Services

We are both proud to support Fourcast Addiction Services and in awe of the work that they do. Although known most for the downtown Consumption and Treatment Site, Fourcast is much, much more. A somewhat staggering statistic is that Fourcast quietly serves more than 4500 people in the Peterborough area. Many of us think of addiction only in terms of our acute street-level drug crisis but many of our neighbors, friends and family members are suffering from life-altering addictions to everything from alcohol to pornography or pain medication to gambling.

We are so thankful that Fourcast is here to help.

YES Shelter for Youth and Families

As it has for years the Yes Shelter’s work in and for our community has a special place in our hearts here at Wild Rock. When we need a little ray of sunshine on a dark day we go to @yesshelterptbo for good news stories! Although facing huge challenges, the YES Shelter and the youth that they serve are both striving to be the best that they can be.

At a time when we know that more and more individuals are finding themselves on the streets, Yes’s Rise Youth Housing program is reporting record success with young people graduating high school and some even finding their way into post-secondary education.

From the bottom of our hearts, we are so thankful for the work that YES does in our community.
